TWIC Certification Needed For Work in the South
3/13/2012

The lack of Transportation Workers Identification Credentials(TWIC), is making it difficult for the SSMRC to get a lot of the available work in the South. Many plants and companies are now demanding that all workers have their TWIC card. TWIC is a vital security measure that will ensure individuals who pose a threat do not gain unescorted access to secure areas of the nation's maritime transportation system. There are plants that the union millwrights haven't been in for some time, and now that they have the work, they are having a difficult time manning these jobs because of the lack of TWIC certification. Getting a TWIC certification not only helps your local union man jobs, but it opens up a lot more opportunities to the individual member. The petro-chemical market is a market that TWIC certification is becoming more and more mandatory and contractors and plants all along the Gulf Coast region are becoming stricter on allowing men to work who do not have their TWIC card. If you aren't already certified, click here and simply follow the directions on the TWIC website. The more men we have with TWIC certification, the bigger our advantage over the competition.
