Millwright Local 1000 Recognized For Contribution to Student's Success

On April 24, 2013, Withlacoochee Technical Institute (WTI) in Inverness, FL, recognized millwright local 1000 at its annual Advisory Committee Dinner for the collaborative work they do with WTI and the effort they put into helping put WTI students into the workplace. Local 1000 Business Representative, Steve Cothron and Millwright Training Coordinator, Gary Cothron, were on hand to accept the Teamwork Toward Tomorrow Award given to Local 1000 for aiding WTI in employing their graduates of the Industrial Machinery Maintenance and Repair Program. “Each year Withlacoochee Technical Institute recognizes a business or association that has gone above and beyond in the contribution to the success of our students.”, said WTI Director Denise R. Willis.

With the joint effort of the Local 1000 recruitment team and WTI instructors and staff, WTI has provided Local 1000 with 21 students in the last two years that have went on to be exceptional millwrights. WTI instills a quality and drive into their students that employers strive for. Steve Cothron voiced his praise for the graduates’ attitude. “We get more than just good workers at Withlacoochee Technical Institute.”, said Mr. Cothron. “We get people that want to make their selves better.”

Director Willis went on to say, “The students and staff at WTI are truly appreciative for what [Local 1000] does to help students enter the workplace.”
