Council Delegates Take Care of Business

EST Jennings addresses delegates

Delegates to the Southern States Millwright Regional Council gathered in Little Rock on Aug. 20 to take care of important council business. Leading the way was Executive Secretary-Treasurer Wayne Jennings, who gave several reports, including an overview of Council finances and new business development initiatives. He also stressed and recognized the excellent work of the training department, including the many advancements made by the training directors of each area.



UBC Southern District Vice President Donahou

EST Jennings also invited UBC Southern District Vice President Dennis Donahou to attend the meeting. DVP Donahou stayed for the duration of the meeting, spoke to delegates about many issues pertaining to the UBC, and spent lots of one-on-one time with individuals to answer questions.

At the meeting, Wayne Berton, Local 2232, was sworn-in as a council delegate. Wayne replaces Mike Hines as a LU 2232 delegate. Mike moved over to Local 729 to replace Kevin Curley when he retired. Swearing-in Wayne is DVP Donahou.

Delegates also unanimously re-elected Joel Scott of Local 1192 as a trustee of the Council at today's Council meeting!

Also presenting to delegates were two state representatives. Arkansas State Rep and Minority Leader Michael John Gray, and candidate for Arkansas State Rep. for District 38, Victoria Leigh. They each addressed the delegation about their support of labor and their commitment to helping the working men and women of Arkansas.
